Attorneys interested in the position of 7th Judicial District judge may obtain an application from the court administrator’s office in the Scott County Courthouse, Davenport.
A vacancy will be created with the resignation of District Judge John Nahra, which takes effect Oct. 6.
Applications should be filed with the administrator’s office on or before Oct. 23. Copies should be sent to each member of the Judicial Nominating Commission by the same date.
To be eligible, a person must be a member of the Bar of Iowa, a resident of the 7th District and “of such age that they will be able to serve an initial and one regular term of office to which they are nominated before the age of 72 years.”
The Judicial Nominating Commission will meet in formal session at 9 a.m. Nov. 3 in the third-floor conference room of the Scott County Courthouse. Candidates will be interviewed at that time. At the conclusion of the session, the commission will nominate two attorneys for the judgeship, and the governor will select one of the two as district judge.
