Blue Grass savings bank

Location: 104 E Mayne St., Blue Grass, Iowa

Contractor: Russell Construction Co., Davenport

Architect: Holland Basham, Omaha, Neb.

Cost: $1.8 million

Particulars: Blue Grass Savings Bank has been a full-service bank for more than 104 years and is the oldest operating bank in Scott County. The new 7,100-square-foot structure will feature an exterior of brick and Anamosa stone and provide the bank with a basement under half the building. The bank’s  interior will include a glassed entrance area and raised ceilings, allowing natural light to illuminate              customer-service areas. The site will also feature two drive-up lanes with space provided for a third lane in the future. Construction is due to be completed by December.

Mama bosso’s

Location: 507 34th Ave., Rock Island

Owners: Randy and Christine Smith

Contractor: Nelson Family Builders, Davenport

Cost: $225,000

Particulars: Mama Bosso is adding 2,800 square feet to its existing facility, doubling in size to meet the demands of its retail and corporate markets. The wholesale company specializes in using no machines to hand prepare 13 different varieties of frozen pizzas for area grocery stores, schools, corporations and fund-raising groups. Its pizza selections include cheese, sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, Mexican style, barbecue chicken and Mama’s special. Mama Bosso also offers calzones and will soon sell a breakfast pizza available in the grocery store frozen breakfast food section. Construction is due to be completed by September.

Kaizen Companies of America

Location: 1510 46th Ave., Moline

Owner: Kaizen Companies of America

Contractor: Point Builders, LLC, Davenport

Architect: Vantage Point, LLC, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Particulars: The 9,068-square-foot commercial building will consist of office space for future tenant occupancy. Construction is due to be completed by late 2006.

Calvary Church of the Quad Cities

Location: 4700 53rd St., Moline

Owner: Calvary Church of the Quad-Cities

Contractor: Brown Church Development Group, Holdrege, Neb.

Architect: Brown Church Development Group

Cost: $1.7 million

Particulars: The project will add 15,000 square feet to the existing 32,000-square-foot structure that sits on 80 acres. The church soon will house a 160-seat wedding chapel that also can be used for youth gatherings, memorial services and other church or community functions. The addition will also provide four 50-seat classrooms, offices for the pastoral and support staff, and a 200-seat children’s church auditorium that can also be used as a banquet hall for fellowship events. Inside the front entrance, a 14-foot cross will stand behind backlit glass encompassing semi-circle seating for prayer and meditation. The church will have specific audio and visual capabilities, lighting and decor to enhance its warm and friendly environment. Construction is due to be completed by April 2007.
