A Davenport man’s persistence landed him in jail, charged with stalking his former girlfriend at a bar, in her car and at her home.

Scott W. Lee, 41, of 3207 W. 67th St., allegedly began stalking the woman at a Davenport bar late Wednesday or early Thursday.

According to Scott County District Court records, he sat within eyesight of the victim and watched her while she was with friends at the bar. He followed her as far as the restroom and back at least three times before the bar staff made him leave, the court documents state.

When the victim left, court records show she found Lee sitting in her vehicle. She was frightened and went to a friend’s house before finally going home about 3:30 a.m., the records state.

At her residence, the women found Lee hiding in a closet, according to the charges. He cursed at her friends and left while the victim called police, but he was gone by the time officers arrived. court records show.

About 20 minutes later, Lee returned and began knocking on the front and back doors and the windows of the woman’s home, court records state. Police said he also left flowers on the front porch that he had pulled from a nearby bush.

By the time officers arrived a second time, Lee was gone again.

About an hour later, shortly after 5 a.m., Lee returned and again began knocking on the woman’s doors and windows, records show. Police returned for a third time and said they again found he was already gone. This time, police stayed in the area and said they saw Lee walking away. He ran from an officer before being arrested, according to court records.

Police said Lee lived with the victim until about three weeks ago. He was charged in Scott County District Court with stalking and harassment of public officials. He had been released from custody as of Friday.
