Rock Island man arrested in slaying of East Moline man

(Updated 5:25 p.m.) Rock Island police announced Thursday afternoon that they have made an arrest in a fatal shooting that occurred less than 24 hours earlier.
Jason Thompson, 22, of Rock Island, is charged with first-degree murder.
Michael M. Jones, 25, of East Moline, died after being wounded in the shooting Wednesday night in Rock Island.
The incident happened about 6 p.m. in the Century Woods housing complex at 15½ Avenue between 4th and 4 1/2 streets.
Authorities said an argument preceded the shooting.
