A Davenport tree trimmer is facing three counts of theft after police said he took money to trim and remove trees and never completed the jobs.

Homer Floyd Christner, 24, of 2615 Hickory Grove Road, is charged with one count each of theft second-degree, theft third-degree and theft fourth-degree.

According to police affidavits filed by Davenport police detective Mark Dinneweth, on June 19, Christner allegedly agreed to trim and remove trees for an elderly client and was paid $1,025 in three checks to do the job.

Also on June 19, Christner allegedly entered a contract to trim trees and remove stumps at another residence for which he was paid $280. Then on June 30, Christner was allegedly paid $800 after he agreed to remove a tree from another residence.

In each of the cases, Christner allegedly either did not complete the jobs, or start work, and never returned any of the money.

He also was issued a citation for operating a business without a license. Christner was released Friday from the Scott County Jail after posting bond.
