BREAKING NEWS: MORRISON, Ill. — A Wisconsin man remained in critical condition Monday after his sport utility vehicle was hit by a train Sunday afternoon in Morrison.

The accident occurred at 1:57 p.m. Sunday at the Union Pacific railroad crossing on Sawyer Road, according to a report from the Morrison Police Department.

Brian T. Houston, 31, of Kenosha, Wis., was driving southbound on Sawyer Road when witnesses said he stopped at the crossing, drove around the activated crossing gates and then stopped on the tracks in the path of an eastbound train.

The truck was pushed about a quarter-mile east of the crossing before the train came to a stop.

Houston was airlifted to Genesis Medical Center, East Central Park, Davenport, then airlifted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Morrison police and the Illinois State Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
