Aledo, Ill.

An Orion, Ill., man has been sentenced to two years conditional discharge after pleading guilty to a felony charge in connection with a Thanksgiving Day altercation involving a Sherrard-area property owner.

Lucas Jahn, 23, accepted a guilty plea Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court to a Class 4 felony charge of criminal damage to property for damaging a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department squad car.

Jahn was sentenced to 123 days in the Mercer County Jail with credit for time served and was released Monday.

Felony charges of burglary, aggravated battery and aggravated fleeing and eluding were dismissed as part of the negotiated agreement that was reached just prior to jury selection.

Authorities said Jahn was confronted by the owner of a cabin near Camp Creek Road with a struggle resulting. He displayed a knife and fled the property in an all-terrain vehicle Nov. 24 before being apprehended the next night after a search by Illinois State Police troopers and deputies.
