MUSCATINE, Iowa (AP) — The hearing for a teenager accused of planning to blow up Muscatine High School has been delayed to Monday.
Joseph Titus, 17, was arrested last week after police found explosives in his home that they believe were meant to blow up his former school. They charged him with threats of terrorism and threat of arson, both class D felonies.
The hearing to determine whether he should be tried as an adult was originally scheduled for Thursday.
Muscatine police said they began investigating Titus after a female reported he had told her during online chats that he planned to destroy the high school. Officers raided his home March 1 and found homemade explosives and other ignitable materials.
Police said they seized his computer and found he had sent some e-mails describing his desire to commit a Columbine-style massacre at Muscatine High School. Police said they also found several spiral notebooks filled with white supremacy graffiti and writings.
