New signs are up and major updates in the works for Davenport’s old Holiday Inn on Brady Street, which was transformed Tuesday into a Clarion Hotel & Conference Center.
The brand-name change follows the property’s recent purchase by Ramesh and Bandhna Saigal, who also own Edgehill Apartments LLC, Bettendorf.
This comes after more than 30 years of the 288-room hotel’s designation as a Holiday Inn, located at 5202 Brady St., said Tim Heim, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing.
“This is going to be refreshing,” Heim said. “It’s going to be great for the customers we’re currently working with, as well as new ones.”
The Holiday Inn franchise was dropped because of the new owners’ preference to turn the site into a Clarion, which is affiliated with Choice Hotels.
The Holidome activity center, now called the Indoor Fun Center, is set for improvements. New carpet will go into the hotel’s 32,000-square-feet of meeting space, and the lobby will get updates. When those projects are finished, improvements will begin in the sleeping rooms, Heim said.
The former owner was Felcor Lodging Trust in Dallas, Texas. The facility was managed by Intercontinental Hotels Group, which is the owner and franchisee of all Holiday Inn products, he said.
The Holiday Inn properties in Moline were sold in May, but its name will remain the same. The Bettendorf Holiday Inn is owned by a different company and not affected by the other facilities’ changes in ownership, Heim said.
Staffing at the Clarion Hotel will remain the same. So will the facility’s designation, as described by Hein, as the largest full-service hotel in the Quad-City area.
