The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend recently awarded $64,500 in grants to local organizations during its first Community Impact Fund grant reception of 2005. Grants awarded in the first round included:
ARC of Rock Island County, $2,500 for Respite Center kitchen renovation.
Black Hawk Area Education Center, $4,000 for the IntelliTools Classroom Suite.
Christian Friendliness Youth Centers, $5,500 for the Youth Outreach Center.
DeLaCerda House, $500 for patio replacement at Robb's House.
DeWitt Junior Women, $5,000 to Rejuvenate Lincoln Park.
Family Planning Service of Western Illinois, $1,000 for the Initiative for Girls.
First United Methodist Church, Rock Island, $4,500 for the Weekend Lunch Site Outreach.
The Garden Growers, $1,000 for communications enhancements.
Girl Scouts of the Mississippi Valley, $3,200 for Camp Conestoga improvements.
Humility of Mary Housing Inc., $5,500 for housing properties upkeep.
Illinois Quad-Cities Chamber of Commerce School-to-Work Initiative, $1,000 for the Student Leadership Academy.
Iowa East Central TRAIN, $2,000 for the River Bend early childhood conference.
Iowa/Illinois Independent Living Center, $2,000 for ramp and home modifications.
Literacy Leadership Inc., $7,500 for Newspapers in Education.
Marriage and Family Counseling Service, $3,500 for a computer and video enhancement project.
QC Elite Team 648 Robotics, $1,000 for the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology program.
River Music Experience, $3,300 for the Austin City Limits Experience exhibit.
Rock Island County Historical Society, $5,000 for museum exterior renovation.
Tipton School Foundation, $3,500 for the Tipton Aquatic Center timing system.
United Way of the Quad-Cities Success by 6, $3,000 for the Born Learning multimedia public awareness and education campaign.
