One dead, five injured in Knox County crash

One Knox County, Ill., teenager was killed and five others were taken to area hospitals for treatment after a one-car accident Sunday, the Illinois State Police said Monday.
Troopers from District 7 in East Moline responded to the crash on Knox County Highway 40. Police said the driver of a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix lost control, drove off the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll over onto its top. The driver, identified as James B. Peterson, 16, of Wataga, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Five teenage passengers, Tiffany Lee Rose, 16, of Galesburg, Whitney Rose, 14, of Galesburg, Zachary Martinson, 14, of Victoria, Jessica Charles, 17, of Galesburg, and Jacob Gray, 16, of Victoria, were transported to Galesburg-area hospitals for treatment. Further information about them was not available Monday morning.
The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
