City growth merits pride
The new downtown parking buildings look great and already have served as a catalyst for downtown business retention and expansion.
Our city council members, past and present, as well as the city staff deserve much credit for implementing a good plan and for doing so on budget.
Citizens should understand that funding for the buildings comes from revenue generated from users of the downtown parking system, private investments from the Bechtel Trust, the DavenportOne Downtown Partnership and the Riverboat Development Authority.
Our general property tax dollars are not being used to fund the parking buildings!
Davenport should be proud of its progress. I am.
