The commercial building-turned-home-and-office on Harrison Street in Davenport was built in 1947 on what was then the outskirts of town.
The two-story, barrel-roof, concrete-block building was constructed by C.D. Ford & Sons Inc. (now based in Geneseo, Ill.) for a seed and grain business.
Through the years, the building housed a blueprint business, a dental lab and John R. Benson Jewelers.
Kathie Heaps and Bobbie Folsom bought the place in December 2001 and converted it into a loft-style living space with an office for a hairdresser business on the first floor.
The interior space includes exposed metal trusses and brick pillars as well as a gourmet kitchen.
