UPDATED: The second round of the John Deere Classic has been put on hold. After drenching rains throughout most of Friday, JDC officials determined that they wouldn't be able to get the course ready for action Friday.
The second round will be played Saturday, with the field cut to the top 60 players and ties after Saturday's play. Those players then will play 36 holes Sunday.
UPDATED: Officials are on the course working to dry the course and expect play to get under way at 4 p.m.
UPDATED: After a rainy morning, sunny skies are peeking out on TPC Deere Run. John Deere Classic officials are desperately working to get the course in playable condition, in an attempt to complete part of the second round tonight.
UPDATED: The John Deere Classic is in a weather delay until 4 p.m. John Deere Classic Tournament Director Clair Peterson is optimistic about getting some golf in today, even as an unsettled weather system wreaks havoc with getting play under way.
A low pressure system brought in two lines of fast-moving storms beginning around 4 a.m. today, said Chris Legro, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Davenport office. The rain was tapering off around 9:45 a.m., but another round of storms are expected to come through in the early afternoon.
"There's a possibility of (the second round) skirting the Quad-Cities, but it doesn't look good," Legro said.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are moving east across the area this morning and will continue through at least late morning. The stronger storms will continue to produce very heavy rainfall at rates of over an inch an hour. Areas from Iowa City to Davenport and to Sterling, Ill. can expect 1 to 2 inches of rainfall through 10:30 a.m.
As these storms pass by and dump heavy rain expect ponding of water on roads and in low-lying areas and rises in area streams and creeks. Please report any very heavy rainfall rates, water on roads, and any bankfull roadside ditches to local law enforcement for relay to the National Weather Service.
In addition to the heavy rain these storms are also producing frequentcloud to ground lightning. Move indoors and away from windows as these storms approach.
Play was originally slated to start at 7 a.m. but has been delayed because heavy thundershowers creating thunder and lightning moving through the Quad-Cities.
Lee Janzen and Darron Stiles are tied atop the leaderboard with at -7.
