Trinity CEO Andrea Coleman Resigns

Rock Island, IL - The Trinity Regional Health System Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of President and CEO Andrea Coleman. Her departure is effective immediately as she pursues opportunities outside the organization.

The Board has asked Tom Tibbitts, a senior member of Trinity's parent organization, Iowa Health System, to serve as Interim CEO while the Board engages in finding a permanent replacement.

Tibbitts is a respected and influential leader within Iowa Health System who will provide immediate leadership during the transition. Tibbitts has most recently served as Iowa Health System's Vice President of System Development. He also has served as President and CEO of Trinity Health Systems, Inc. since 1985, and President and CEO of Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa, from 1980 to 2008. Prior to joining Trinity, Tibbitts held administrative positions at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He received his bachelor's degree and a master's in Hospital Administration from the University of Iowa.

Coleman joined Trinity in 2008 and during her leadership the organization had several achievements in quality and patient care. Trinity was designated a Magnet nursing facility in December 2008 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet designation is awarded to hospitals that meet rigorous nationally and internationally recognized standards for nursing care and professional performance. Most recently, Trinity's Rock Island campus was rated best in the Quad-Cities in cardiac care and cardiac surgery in a 2010 outcomes study by HealthGrades, the leading independent health-care ratings organization.
