BELLEVUE, Iowa — Brian Curtis Petersen, 54, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, as a result of a motor vehicle accident north of Bellevue.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Kingery-Lemke Funeral Home in Bellevue. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Kingery-Lemke Funeral Home and again Saturday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until service time.
Brian was born on April 30, 1955, in Wheatland, Iowa, son of Duane “Pete” and Wanda (McNeil) Petersen. He married Debra Steiner Schuckert at the home of his parents in Wheatland on October 9, 1982.
Brian graduated from Wheatland High School in 1973. He later graduated from Des Moines Area Community College with an associate degree in Health Care Administration. Brian served as a nursing home administrator for 15 years before owning and operating Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Baxter, Iowa, with his wife, Debra. After retirement they moved to Bellevue and Brian opened Iron Horse Self Storage and Warehouse.
Brian truly lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed motorcycling, cars, boating, and traveling. He was passionate about collecting antiques. Music was a constant accompaniment to Brian’s life. Above all Brian loved and cared about his family. They were his pride and joy. He cherished his grandchildren, and will always be known as “Papa Brian.”
Surviving is his wife, Debra, of Bellevue; three children, Scot (Kathey) Schuckert, of Ames, Iowa, Tamra Schuckert, of Dubuque, and Jason Schuckert, of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Maddison, Lorna, Jack and Jacob; his mother, Wanda Petersen, of Wheatland; two brothers, Mitch (JoAnne) Petersen, of Davenport, and Brad (Mary Jo) Petersen, of Grand Mound, Iowa; a sister, Tina (Chuck) Solheim, of Davenport; and his beloved black labrador, Belle.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, Fred and Florence Petersen and Floyd and Marie McNeil, and a sister, Cynthia Petersen.
In lieu of flowers a Brian C. Petersen Memorial Fund has been established.
