Gillian Christy, Providence, R.I., is engaged to Russell Preston, also of Providence. Their parents are Mark and Becky Christy, Davenport, and Rusty and Janice Preston, Boca Raton, Fla., and Mackinac Island, Mich. Their grandparents are Reverend John and Marilyn Christy, Davenport, and the late Lloyd and Grace Jones, Manson, Iowa. The late Donna Smith, Mt. Clemens, Mich., the late Edward Smith, and Beverly Smith, LaGrange, Ga., and Russell and Stella Preston, Safety Harbor, Fla.
Christy has her BFA from the University of Northern Iowa, and is a professional sculptor, working with metal. Her fiancé has an undergraduate degree in architecture from Notre Dame and a master’s from the University of Miami. He is an architect with Cornish Associates in Providence.
They will be married on Saturday, August 9 at the Little Stone Church, Mackinac Island, Mich. A reception will follow at the Island House.
